Glad to know you thought my website was cute and fun to look through! I started my journey through the simple tutorial Neocities gave me when I first made an account. That was a good way to get familiar with HTML and CSS, but the thing I would recommend is getting one of the many public templates for indie website making. Analysing, modifying or adding to code that already exists makes the learning process much easier. Don't be afraid to check the code of other websites you see too. Don't copy paste it though, unless the webmaster is okay with it, you should always focus on understanding what they did and try to make it your way. I personally used Neothemes for a loooong time before I had enough experience to code my own pages and eventually code my main website layout. Oh yeah! Sketching out the website on an art program or paper helps you get a better vision to code a page, it's something I do sometimes when the page has a more complex design. Another good advice is to take a day break from coding when it gets stressful. I had many days where I would be coding and nothing was working... only to realize the next day, when my mind wasn't stressed, that I forgot to close a bracket somewhere... Making a website is tough work, there's still so much I don't know about. (I still need to learn JS!) But it's super rewarding after you see the result of your work!
